Bugatti Type 101C Roadster by Ghia (c1965)
designed by Virgil Exner and built on the last c hassis made by the original Bugatti company of Mulsanne, France. presented at the Turin Motor Show with hopes of relaunching the Bugatti marque, the prototype failed to attract investors and the project folded.

I like it. Which says something because I don't like large coupes and I don't like convertibles.

I think this came from Exner’s commission from Esquire magazine to draw what he felt a number of prewar luxury brands could look like if they were around in the ‘60s. It was just supposed to be a fun, speculative piece, but people seemed to really go for it - the Bugatti and Duesenberg proposals both led to serious attempts at restarting those companies, and his Mercer proposal got built as a show car.

I don’t know that I would have any real interest in cars were it not for convertibles.

I thought I didn’t like convertibles until my brother bought his Miata. It eventually grew on me to the point that I bought it from him.
